Last night in barcelona

Arrive in barcelona, go get custom shoes for kr, shop, eat pizza, shop, shop, pick up bag at locker rental, go back to hotel, repack, up at 4:45 am

Travel day

Day of travel today, to bus at 7:30, to 8:30 ferry, to ibiza, to breakfast and long awaited "take away" diet coke for KR
Interesting note on diet coke or coke zero, the typical size we would get is about 200 ml and a 12 oz can is about 330 ml, can you imagine the excitement to see a 800 ml diet coke from McDonalds after 10 days!!
Some places were charging €2.50 to 3.50 for the small size.  Coffee and wine is definately cheaper, the opposite in the US
11:30 bus ride 2 to airport, 1:30 flight was delayed and switched gates twice but up in the air around 2:30 pm
Good news though, KR was searchinb for this special beer that has an awesome design on it and were not able to find until the last store in the airport, got 2
One more cab ride to the hotel before final shopping and walking tour in barcelona before the flight out tomorrow early
Funny, its 3pm here and 6,  7,  & 8 am for family in the US
We are doing great and KR'S injuries are healing.  It has been a great trip!!!!

Last night in formentera

After a full day of sup'ing and a 4 hour snorkel tour KR's left side was feeling it, like not crippled but close.  We did have a great boat ride along the coast and TR got to snorkel through what the call a grotto which is basically a cave in the ocean.
We met our second american but the were not ones we really liked, but we did meet some nice Brits and some Spainards from Madrid
We also have to say how nice the people from the Island have been
We have gotten multiple presents from store owners where shoped and talked to, what US stores give you presents.  see attached picture

hot. no.food

Missing the conveniances of the good old US: quick food when you need it, food not running out at the end of the day, air conditioning, or at least some fans, just getting the check quickly will be nice.

Pics beach

Tuesday and Wed

We stayed at the beach all day yesterday and did a long snorkel trip with TR pulling KR on floaty as her bruised side was sore.
I dont have pictures as i forgot the camera, not good as we saw some awesome views
We decided to rent the car for the rest of the time as it is much easier to get around where you want to go
We ran into our first american who actually lives out here as s singer
We got back to the hotel with intentions of going to dinner but TR got a hand made sandwich that
Was enough for two and we ended up talking to our german neighbors from Hamburg, Rubin and Zena
To sleep close to midnight and up early to the beach for SUPing and afternoon snorkel tour (4 hours)

However we ended up at a great spot for the day and an awesome view for lunch

Lunch after SUP'ing

What a place for lunch after SUP'ing!
Finally got to go do our fav water sport
Went around es Pujols and it was awesome-amazing different colors of blues-looked like a swimming pool. got lots of great pics w/ waterproof camera but wont be able to post until after we get back.
kr did fine w/ her injuries-we were excited about that. going to go again tomorrow and scheduled snorkeling excursion on a boat for Weds. afternoon.

Thur 9/4 and Scooter Hell

KR here...Well, first of all, I'm fine/we're fine...however, had a little "snafu" with the scooter on Thur...I've driven scooters in the (many yrs) past and TR never had so we're getting the scooter (to share), the gal shows me how it works, and then suggests I try it out on the block where they are before loading TR & everything on to go explore.
So...I pretty slowly pull out of the scooter place onto the street, go down to an area w/a parking lot that I'll do a u-turn in the road, but Im not used to the turning radius, so I just go down into the little hilly, dirt parking lot, thinking, I'll just turn around in here and go up the little hill and back onto the street.
Buuuuttt...apparently I have my first "senior moment" or something, b/c, as I twist the throttle toward me (which still seems like a weird motion to both of us), it accelerates much too much, much too quickly, and I'm suddenly hurtling out of control, and very fast, toward a car and a big pine tree!.
As it's happening, everything is going in slow motion and I both cannot process how to keep the thing from accelerating, nor can I seem to be able to think about braking. Its as if the scooter has control and I have none, yet I am totally aware of that fact as its happening, so I start thinking, "this is very BAD. This may not turn out well. I could be injured REALLY badly. This is really going to f* up our vacation. I may be in a cast. Gawd, I hope I can still snorkel and paddleboard and everything! I could really get a bad head injury from this! I hope it doesnt throw me. I hope I dont go unconscious. Man, Terry is going to FREAK out! I hope I dont look really bad when he sees me. Ma, I am so stupid! I cant believe this is happening to me! What the hell?! Its not like I was being reckless! I totally drove scooters and even dirt bikes in the past!"
So, finally, at least it was over, finally, as I hit the tree and car, kind of coming right between the two. The scooter threw me but, thankfully, only about 3 feet to the side, and on the fairly soft dirt. I had a helmet on (we've been very impressed-EVERYONE driving or riding on scooters wears them!) and didnt seem to hit my head--I landed on my left side but seemed to hold my head up to the right. I think both my right wrist and knee hit the tree, and maybe I hit the car on the left w/ my thigh. I wasnt knocked out and I laid there for a few minutes trying to catch my breath, writhing in pain, keeping my head and neck flat. All the while Im thinking, "Terry is going to FREAK out!!! (we call it "the Peterson Gene--they get into LOTS of anxiety about loved ones, whether its warranted or not, and this time, it was warranted. This was no migraine.)"
After a few minutes of laying there, I heard someone walking on the sidewalk above me, so I asked them if they spoke English (thank God they did-I think they were Dutch or something by their accent) and if they could please go down the street to the scoter place and let them know "there was something wrong with the scooter", but to NOT tell my Husband about the accident, under any circumstances because he would freak out. However, before they could even leave, the guy from the scooter shop pulls up, sees me, runs down the hill and brushes me off (good, good, this won't look as bad when I see Terry), tries to make sure Im okay, between his Catalan Spanish and my Castillian/Mexican Spanish/English, and we slowly start walking back toward the shop.
We maybe get 3 steps down the street and I see Terry, rushing up on the sidewalk, eyes as wide as pancakes, face red, clearly FREAKING OUT. I do my best, "I'm fine, I'm fine.", which, for those of you that know us well, I have lots and lots of practice doing with all our races and adventures and subsequent (minor) injuries. He clearly doesnt believe me but puts on a brave face, knowing it'll make me more upset to see him so upset. We all walk back to the scooter place, the shop folks explain that yes, this does happen, and no, I'm not a big "stu-pid-o" like I keep saying, along w/ my apologies and then my crying and theyre just glad Im okay. All the while, my wrist starts swelling, looking like I have a bone protruding about 2-3 inches (which I didnt) and my knee starts ballooning up to twice its normal size. They only made us pay for the 3-day rental, gave us a little weird car/dune buggy thing to use for 1 day and we were off for ice, lots of Alleve, and passed-out rest (with a few awakenings to horrible nightmare replays of the incident).
We took photos of all the crazy injuries, but apparently on the camera, which is way too hard to upload on our tablet from here, and not on the tablet so we'll have to post those at a later date. Ive been a little better than we would've figured, but I am always a tomboy at heart, so I get very motivated to be tough. Im taking a LOT of Alleve, and it feels like I really bruised my ribs on my left side, which Ive never done, so thats a weird feeling and really hurts when I sneeze or cough. Dont think they were brojenthoug, and no other broken bones--knock on wood,Ive got pretty darn strong bones--havent broken one yet! Wrist, knee, and thigh injuries have really gone down, we found some great big waterproof bandags for the big knee one, and now theyre all beautiful shades of reds and purples and some greens! Even going to go on a snorkeling excursion tomorrow then hopefully padleboarding the nextday, b/c I cant take it. Alleve will be my savior and we only have 4 full days left on the island! Please dint judge like I did so many times with all those "idiots" who crash scooters--Ive laid my soul bare here--please handle with care.
And, GO BRONCOS!!! (2 am game time here)

Sunday morning snack

Got a quick snack before heading out in our volkswagon tour, yes,  we switched from scooter tour to car tour
Picture is on our porch overlooking the ocean
Found an american like breakfast place as well today called canapepa recommended by the german couple next to us in our hostal
second picture is of what american pancakes should look like and scrambled eggs that we have not had in a week
also shown is the interior of Canapepa and the menu

Friday sept 5

KR will have a post for thursday that i am skipping over so she can post details on thursday
Friday was a good day as we had a little car that is hard to describe and i failed to get a picture but will
We went to Es Pujols to try breakfast but forgot again how hard this is to obtain in europe but did find a place on Playa es Pujols, see pictures, and had what is best described as a waffle sandwich
We then explored the town a bit and met a wonderful shop owner named Joseph whose wife is from
Ohio but whose parents grew up in
Formentera.
Pictures of beach are here below.
We got some water shoes and headed back to our beach
This afternoon we decided that just laying on the sand is not the ideal thing for vacation so we are going to rent some lounger chairs with an umbrella on
Saturday
After some nice beach time we headed into
Sant fransesc for dinner

Formentera - day 1.5

We deciced to give into the Spain way = take a siesta in the heat of the day and go out on the town to eat later in the evening.
So after a siesta and nearing close to 8ish,  we decided to try and give the local bus a try.  we found out it picks up around 8:20.
We talked to the scooter guy and decided to rent a scooter for a few days and explore.
The original idea was to rent a bike and that seems crazy until we get used to the heat.
Bus arrived 8:36 ish and off to what they call "hippi town", El Pilar de la mola, I know, tough name to remember.
The hippi market started at 4pm and we were not sure if it ended at 9,10, or 11.
We found out hippi's now close down at 10pm
We found a place to eat around 9pm and that is when eating places in spain start getting really busy.
Wandered to the hippi market where KR found that hearts are popular things to make jewelry out of, how perfect is that!  after getting ready to head back, we find out the late bus doesn't come until midnight, so we tried to find a cab and after two failed attempts of asking people we went back to the restuarant nd "monica" called a cab. Nice cool night and great spot to wait, we had a great ride back to the hotel before the stroke of midnight and neither of our magic slippers that brought us here changed.
Awaken to a beautiful day and a scooter adventure to come
Pictures here are of the spot where we waited for the bus and the scooter rental place as well as the dinner selection of tropical salad and
Squid.  also, breakfast view
